To claim one, you must first clear out any zombies in it and approaching it. A secure outpost means there are no zombies in the area. Any outpost you find will list whether it's secure or not and as well as its potential base benefits. With the information shown from hovering over different icons on your map, you can see which buildings provide loot and which are possible outpost locations. You can choose which resource to expend to keep the outpost running. This means that it will make all your base-building speed up and provide you with Materials. The Meagher Valley Landmark outpost will provide base-wide power and a lower Influence cost than claiming a regular Power outpost. Once you purchase a Landmark outpost with 100 Influence, you're prompted to pick a "skill" or strategy. It's like building a facility station at your base. If you play the game seriously, taking combat and skill into account more than leisure play, Landmark outposts may be for you. Landmark outposts allow players to pick one type of strategy and stick to it. This means that not only will nearby outposts be unfit to claim, but the entire neighborhood will be filled with plague zombies. Plague Hearts will render entire neighborhoods infected and dangerous to explore instead of just one house. Plague Hearts make any nearby outposts unfit to claim until the Plague Heart is destroyed. The negative effects of Plague Hearts have increased. A Landmark Outpost is a new feature where there will be one special outpost per map that will provide you with multiple, powerful benefits to aid you in the way that you play. This makes claiming outposts more beneficial gives you a reason to revisit them. Outposts can now be upgraded to increase production for your community. These features make outposts even more beneficial than before.
